Do Something "Crazy"
Every now and then, your training needs to take you out of your comfort zone. Physical and mental growth will only occur if your body and mind are given new (or harder) stimuli. As a trainer, coach, and instructor for over 35 years I have noticed many thousands of individuals training to be competitive athletes, or just to be fitter versions of themselves, doing the same basic workouts at very comfortable intensities time and time again, and then wondering why they are not seeing the success they expect in competition, or the progress they seek in their overall fitness / body composition. When the workouts and intensity are nearly always the same, and very ordinary, it is hard to expect the results to be extraordinary. Yes, there is definitely something to be said for consistency when it comes to training. Consistency is important for sure, but so is challenging your systems by pushing harder and longer than normal occasionally. I'm talking about consistent training infused with days that are much more intense, use unique protocols and tools, or are longer than normal. If you aren't training in a manner that people around you take notice and ask you "What are you doing?", or make comments like "That's crazy!" when you tell them about your workout, you are likely training too conservatively. If this doesn't happen to you once a month, or at least once every other month - try doing something "crazy" and experience how that harder, longer, more intense training can grow your potential and ability to succeed.
